"Module 3"

Readings-
Adolescent and Digital Literacies: Learning Alongside Our Students by Sarah Kajder: Read Adolescent Research Brief (pp. ix-xix) and chapter 1-4

Discussion- Participate in the Voice Thread Discussion as you read. Here are the things I want you to think about or do as you read these chapters. Link to VoiceThread http://voicethread.com/share/1345245/

1.Share  one big thought that resonates with you from the brief. It may be something you disagree with or don't understand. It may be that "aha" moment. Yes you can share more than one idea or thought!
 2. Spend some time talking with your students about their digital lives. Find out what they do online. Ask them about their use of Facebook, You Tube, Wikipedia, My Space, and others. Find out how they are using their phones.
3. Are you the 21st Century English Teacher? Who are you more like Liz, Brice, or Ed?
What new meaning did you make from both chapters?

Action:
Write two   reflective blog posts.

Read and make at least one comment to each person's post in your group.

Continue to read and follow at least three other bloggers outside our class.

Pause and Ponder due Midnight September 27th. Please email it to me as an attachment to mailto:wcgaskins.59@gmail.com.
1. What are the key points in your reading? (book, maybe blog posts)
2. Based on your experience as an educator, how can you apply content from this reading to your classroom and teaching?
3. What new insight did you gain from all that you have learned?
4. How has class discussion (VoiceThread) influenced your thinking?
